Fisher Theatre Nederlander Lounge

Project Synopsis:

We had the privilege of working in the iconic Fisher Building located in the New Center neighborhood of Detroit, MI. This ornate 30-story building was finished in 1928, and is a major work of architect Albert Kahn. The building was designed in the Art Deco style, and was originally financed by the Fisher family with proceeds from the sale of the Fisher Body to General Motors Corporation. This particular area in the building is housed in the 2,089-seat Fisher Theatre which is a national historical landmark. This basement space was the original offices of D.T. Nederlander and his sons where they laid the groundwork for building their theatre empire. Our goal was to design an area that was a balance between Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern design elements to transform this space into a glamorous lounge for their guests.
